Triple Shade Blinds
A triple shade takes the zebra idea a step further: instead of two alternating stripes it runs three layers — a sheer face, a shading middle and a solid back — so the window moves through more distinct settings on one chain. Sheer for a view, shade for glare, solid for near-dark, without changing blinds or adding a curtain.
It is the specification for a room that has to do several jobs in a day: a master bedroom that is also where someone works, a hotel room, a living room with a television on one wall and a west window on the other. The mechanism is heavier than a plain roller and the fabric costs more, so it earns its place on the windows that matter rather than on every window in the flat. Motorisation suits it particularly well, because there is more travel to manage.

What does a triple shade do that a zebra blind does not?
A zebra alternates two fabrics, so it moves between filtered light and dim. A triple shade runs three layers — sheer, shading and solid — so the same window reaches more distinct settings on one chain, including a genuinely darker one. If a room only needs day and evening, a zebra is the better value. If one window has to serve a workday, a film and a nap, the third layer is what you are paying for.
How does a zebra blind actually work?
The fabric is one continuous loop with alternating sheer and solid horizontal stripes, running over a roller tube. Pulling the chain moves the front layer against the back layer. When solid sits over solid, the window is closed and light drops to a dim glow. When solid sits over sheer, you get an even band of filtered daylight across the whole window instead of a single gap at the top or bottom, which is what makes it more useful than a plain roller in a room you use all day.
Do I measure inside the window frame or outside it?
Both are valid, and they give different results. An inside (reveal) mount looks tidier and keeps the sill usable, but a little light always escapes at the edges. An outside mount overlaps the frame by two to three inches on each side and is the only way to get a genuinely dark bedroom. How long does it take from order to installation?
Three days for a standard blind, five for a motorised one, counted from the day the order is confirmed to the day it is fitted. Those are working targets for stock fabric in Dhaka; a colour we have to bring in, or a very large made-to-order size, can add to them, and we tell you that when you order rather than afterwards.
