Blinds in Uttara, Dhaka
Uttara is a planned area, and it shows in the work. The sectors are laid out on a grid, plots are a standard size, and the apartment buildings put up across them repeat the same window sizes floor after floor. A twelve-window flat in Sector 7 is often a near copy of one in Sector 11, which makes quoting quick and installation predictable.
The two things that distinguish an Uttara job are exposure and height. Buildings are set apart rather than packed shoulder to shoulder, so there is less mutual shading than in older parts of the city and more windows catch direct sun for longer. Upper floors also catch more wind, which rules out a loose outdoor bamboo blind on an unprotected balcony unless it is tied at the bottom.
Proximity to the airport corridor means aircraft noise on some sectors. Blinds do very little about noise — that is a glazing question, not a fabric one — and we would rather say so than sell a heavier fabric on a promise it cannot keep.

Frequently asked questions
How long does installation take on the day?
A straightforward roller or zebra blind takes ten to fifteen minutes per window once the brackets are marked, so a four-window flat is usually done inside an hour. Concrete lintels, steel frames and outside mounts on tiled walls take longer because every fixing has to be drilled and plugged. Our team brings the drill, the plugs and a vacuum, and clears up before leaving.
Can bamboo blinds be used on an open balcony?
Yes, and that is where they work best — the weave gives shade while letting air move, so a balcony stays usable instead of turning into a hot box. Two conditions: roll them up before heavy rain rather than letting them soak, and fix the bottom so the wind cannot slap them against the railing. Given both, a bamboo blind on a covered balcony lasts years. In driving rain with no cover, expect the reeds to split eventually.
Which blinds survive Dhaka humidity and monsoon splash?
Anything that does not mind getting damp: PVC and aluminium slats, PVC vertical louvres, and polyester roller fabrics all wipe clean and do not swell. Natural wood is the one to keep away from a window that takes rain, because repeated wetting warps the slats — faux wood gives the same look without that risk. For a bathroom or an open balcony, PVC or aluminium is the safe answer.
