Blinds in Gulshan, Dhaka

Gulshan is where this business does most of its apartment work, and the building stock explains why. The blocks around Gulshan 1 and Gulshan 2 circles are largely purpose-built apartments from the last twenty years: deep concrete reveals, aluminium sliding windows, and a lot of west-facing glass on the upper floors of the taller towers. Those two facts decide most of the specification before anyone opens a fabric book.

Deep reveals are good news — an inside mount sits neatly and the blind is protected. West-facing glass above the eighth floor is the opposite problem: nothing shades it, the sun is on it from three until sunset, and a single light-filtering blind will not be enough by itself. That is where we usually end up recommending either a sunscreen blind for the day and blackout for the evening, or a double-cell honeycomb on the worst window.

Many Gulshan flats also have full-height sliding doors onto a balcony. A roller blind on those has to be raised every time somebody steps out, so we fit verticals or veri shades that draw sideways instead and leave the doorway clear.

Measuring and installation

Most Gulshan buildings require a gate entry and a service lift booking, so we confirm a time slot with building management a day ahead rather than arriving unannounced. Measuring takes about twenty minutes for a typical flat; installation is usually a single visit.

Frequently asked questions

Do I measure inside the window frame or outside it?
Both are valid, and they give different results. An inside (reveal) mount looks tidier and keeps the sill usable, but a little light always escapes at the edges. An outside mount overlaps the frame by two to three inches on each side and is the only way to get a genuinely dark bedroom. Tell us which you want and measure accordingly — our /measure guide walks through both with the exact points to record.
How long does installation take on the day?
A straightforward roller or zebra blind takes ten to fifteen minutes per window once the brackets are marked, so a four-window flat is usually done inside an hour. Concrete lintels, steel frames and outside mounts on tiled walls take longer because every fixing has to be drilled and plugged. Our team brings the drill, the plugs and a vacuum, and clears up before leaving.
Which blinds survive Dhaka humidity and monsoon splash?
Anything that does not mind getting damp: PVC and aluminium slats, PVC vertical louvres, and polyester roller fabrics all wipe clean and do not swell. Natural wood is the one to keep away from a window that takes rain, because repeated wetting warps the slats — faux wood gives the same look without that risk. For a bathroom or an open balcony, PVC or aluminium is the safe answer.
