Blinds in Bashundhara R/A, Dhaka

Bashundhara Residential Area is mostly new construction, and new construction means larger glass. Blocks built in the last decade run to floor-to-ceiling windows and wide living-room glazing that older parts of Dhaka simply do not have, and that changes which blinds are even possible on a given opening.

Past about eight feet of width, a single roller blind stops being the right answer — the tube deflects and the fabric drags. On those windows we quote either two blinds on one bracket line, or verticals and veri shades that hang from a track and do not care how wide the run is. The calculator on each product page flags the join point as soon as you enter a width that crosses it.

The other Bashundhara pattern is a lot of houses still being finished. Blinds go in last, after painting and after the AC points, and measuring before the frames are final produces a blind that does not fit. If a flat is still under work, send us photographs first and we will tell you whether it is worth measuring yet.

Measuring and installation

Wide blinds are heavier and awkward to carry, so we bring them up before the day gets hot and fit the large openings first while there are two people free. Newly built flats often have no lift permit yet; tell us in advance if it is stairs only.

Frequently asked questions

What is the widest window a single blind can cover?
It depends on the mechanism, and every product page states its own limit in the specification table. Vertical blinds and veri shades go widest because the weight hangs from a track rather than winding onto a tube. A roller past about eight feet has to be made as two blinds sharing one bracket line — the calculator says so as soon as you enter a width that needs it, rather than surprising you on installation day.
How long does installation take on the day?
A straightforward roller or zebra blind takes ten to fifteen minutes per window once the brackets are marked, so a four-window flat is usually done inside an hour. Concrete lintels, steel frames and outside mounts on tiled walls take longer because every fixing has to be drilled and plugged. Our team brings the drill, the plugs and a vacuum, and clears up before leaving.
Do I measure inside the window frame or outside it?
Both are valid, and they give different results. An inside (reveal) mount looks tidier and keeps the sill usable, but a little light always escapes at the edges. An outside mount overlaps the frame by two to three inches on each side and is the only way to get a genuinely dark bedroom. Tell us which you want and measure accordingly — our /measure guide walks through both with the exact points to record.
