Roller Blinds
A roller blind is the simplest thing you can put on a window: one flat panel of fabric wound on a tube, raised and lowered by a bead chain or a motor. That simplicity is exactly why it suits Dhaka flats. It needs almost no depth inside the reveal, it clears sliding sashes and security grilles, and it has no slats to hold dust in a city that produces plenty of it.
The fabric does all the work. Sunscreen mesh cuts glare and heat while keeping your view of the street. Light-filtering cloth turns hard afternoon sun into an even glow. Blackout fabric passes no light through itself at all, which is what makes a west-facing bedroom sleepable in April. We cut every blind to your measured width and height so it sits in the reveal without gaps down the sides, and every roller in this range can be motorised on remote or WiFi.
Frequently asked questions
How do I clean a roller or zebra blind?
Lower the blind fully and go over both faces with a vacuum brush head or a dry microfibre cloth, top to bottom. Do that monthly and Dhaka dust never builds into a grey film. For a mark, dab with a barely damp cloth and mild soap, then leave the blind down until it is completely dry — rolling up a wet blind is what causes streaks and a musty smell. Never soak the fabric, never scrub, and never machine-wash a blackout blind: the coating on the back is what blocks the light and it will crack.
Are chain-operated blinds safe around small children?
A loose bead chain is a strangulation hazard, and it is entirely avoidable. Every chain blind we install comes with a cleat or tensioner that is screwed to the wall or frame so the loop is held taut and out of reach — please let us fix it rather than leaving the chain hanging. In a child's bedroom the safest answer is a motorised blind with no chain at all, and cots should never be placed against a window with a hanging cord.
Do I measure inside the window frame or outside it?
Both are valid, and they give different results. An inside (reveal) mount looks tidier and keeps the sill usable, but a little light always escapes at the edges. An outside mount overlaps the frame by two to three inches on each side and is the only way to get a genuinely dark bedroom. How long does it take from order to installation?
Three days for a standard blind, five for a motorised one, counted from the day the order is confirmed to the day it is fitted. Those are working targets for stock fabric in Dhaka; a colour we have to bring in, or a very large made-to-order size, can add to them, and we tell you that when you order rather than afterwards.
