Light Filtering Roller Blind

Light filtering fabric is woven closely enough to hide the view but open enough to keep the room bright. Hard midday sun arrives as an even glow across the whole panel instead of a stripe across the floor, and the glare on a television or a monitor disappears without anyone reaching for a lamp.

It gives daytime privacy where sunscreen does not — shapes are visible through it, detail is not — which makes it the sensible choice for a ground floor or a window that faces a neighbouring flat.

Light Filtering: Softens daylight into an even glow. Shapes are visible through it, detail is not.

Monthly vacuum with a brush head. Wipe marks with a damp cloth and mild soap; never scrub, which opens the weave.

Frequently asked questions

Can people see in through a sunscreen blind at night?
Yes, and this surprises people. Sunscreen mesh works by contrast: in daylight the bright side is outside, so you can see out and passers-by cannot see in. After dark the bright side is inside and that reverses — with the lights on, silhouettes are visible from the street. For a street-facing bedroom or a ground floor, pair sunscreen with a blackout blind on the same window, or choose a light-filtering fabric instead.
How do I clean a roller or zebra blind?
Lower the blind fully and go over both faces with a vacuum brush head or a dry microfibre cloth, top to bottom. Do that monthly and Dhaka dust never builds into a grey film. For a mark, dab with a barely damp cloth and mild soap, then leave the blind down until it is completely dry — rolling up a wet blind is what causes streaks and a musty smell. Never soak the fabric, never scrub, and never machine-wash a blackout blind: the coating on the back is what blocks the light and it will crack.
Will the fabric fade in direct Dhaka sun?
Every fabric fades eventually under direct sun; the question is how fast and how evenly. Solution-dyed polyester and sunscreen mesh hold colour far better than printed cotton-look fabrics, and mid tones show fading less than deep navy or black. A west or south-west window is the harshest position in a Dhaka flat, so if that is where the blind goes, choose a lighter mid tone and expect the visible side to soften slightly over several years rather than patch unevenly.
Do I measure inside the window frame or outside it?
Both are valid, and they give different results. An inside (reveal) mount looks tidier and keeps the sill usable, but a little light always escapes at the edges. An outside mount overlaps the frame by two to three inches on each side and is the only way to get a genuinely dark bedroom. Tell us which you want and measure accordingly — our /measure guide walks through both with the exact points to record.
