Triple Shade Blind

Three layers on one roller: a sheer face for the view, a shading middle for glare, and a solid back for privacy and near-dark. One chain moves the window between them, so a room that changes through the day does not need three different window coverings.

The mechanism is heavier than a plain roller and the fabric costs more, which is why it earns its place on the main window of a room rather than on every window in a flat.

Light Filtering: Softens daylight into an even glow. Shapes are visible through it, detail is not.

Frequently asked questions

What does a triple shade do that a zebra blind does not?
A zebra alternates two fabrics, so it moves between filtered light and dim. A triple shade runs three layers — sheer, shading and solid — so the same window reaches more distinct settings on one chain, including a genuinely darker one. If a room only needs day and evening, a zebra is the better value. If one window has to serve a workday, a film and a nap, the third layer is what you are paying for.
How does a zebra blind actually work?
The fabric is one continuous loop with alternating sheer and solid horizontal stripes, running over a roller tube. Pulling the chain moves the front layer against the back layer. When solid sits over solid, the window is closed and light drops to a dim glow. When solid sits over sheer, you get an even band of filtered daylight across the whole window instead of a single gap at the top or bottom, which is what makes it more useful than a plain roller in a room you use all day.
Do I measure inside the window frame or outside it?
Both are valid, and they give different results. An inside (reveal) mount looks tidier and keeps the sill usable, but a little light always escapes at the edges. An outside mount overlaps the frame by two to three inches on each side and is the only way to get a genuinely dark bedroom. Tell us which you want and measure accordingly — our /measure guide walks through both with the exact points to record.
Do motorised blinds need wiring, and what happens in a load shedding?
Motorised blinds are priced per window and added on top of the fabric cost. Rechargeable tubular motors need no new wiring — you charge them from a nearby socket every few months and they keep working through load shedding. Mains-powered motors need a point near the window, which is easiest to arrange before the blinds are fitted. Every motorised blind we supply can also be operated by hand if the battery is flat.
